How to collect feedback on a Webflow site

Ways to review a Webflow site with your team or clients, from Webflow's own comments to pinning notes on the published staging or live site, and when each one fits.

A Webflow review usually involves the designer, a couple of people from marketing and sometimes a client. Here are the two main ways to collect what they think, and where each one fits.

Option 1. Webflow's own comments

Webflow has commenting built in. People with access to the project can comment while they work, and you can share comment-only links so others can leave notes without a Webflow account. It's the natural choice when everyone's feedback is about that one Webflow project and the people giving it are happy to work inside Webflow's view of the site.

Option 2. Pin comments on the published site

Every Webflow site publishes to a staging address ending in .webflow.io, and then to your own domain. Both are ordinary web pages, which means you can review them the same way as any other site.

  1. Publish your latest changes to staging.
  2. Open the staging URL in Chrome with Lasso installed.
  3. Click any element, or drag a box over an area, and type your note. Lasso pins it and takes a screenshot.
  4. Share the collection with the team, or paste a comment's super link in Slack.

Because Lasso works on any page, the same collection can hold notes on the Webflow site, the old site it's replacing, a competitor you're borrowing ideas from and the CMS-driven blog pages, all in one place.

When to use which

Use Webflow's comments when the feedback is purely about building this Webflow project and everyone is comfortable in that interface.

Use pinned comments on the published site when the review spans more than one site, when reviewers are looking at the real page on their phones and browsers, or when you want every note to keep a screenshot. It's also handy after launch, when the site lives on your domain and the conversation moves to content and conversion.

When the fixes are going to a developer or an AI agent, Export for AI sends every comment with the page, the exact element and the screenshot as a Markdown file or PDF.

A tip for Webflow reviews

Publish to staging before asking for feedback. Reviewing an unpublished version means notes about things that are already fixed, and that wastes everyone's afternoon.

Questions people ask

Can clients comment on a Webflow site without an account?

Webflow offers comment-only links that let people without an account view the site and leave comments after confirming their email. Check the share settings in your Webflow project.

Can I comment on my webflow.io staging site?

Yes. Your staging site is a normal web page, so a browser extension like Lasso can pin comments on it, as well as on the live domain and on any other site you're reviewing alongside it.

Does Lasso need anything installed on my Webflow site?

No. Lasso runs in your browser, so there's no script or embed to add to the Webflow project.
