I keep pasting screenshots and nobody knows which page they're from
A pasted screenshot loses the page, the element and the conversation the moment it's sent. A Lasso super link carries all three, so your team opens the live page right where you meant.
You spot something off on the site. Cmd Shift 4, drag, paste into Slack, type "this looks wrong". Then the questions start. Which page? Desktop or mobile? Is this still live, or did someone already fix it? By the third reply, the screenshot has scrolled out of sight and the thread is about something else.
The screenshot isn't the problem. It shows exactly what you saw. It's that a picture of a page is cut off from the page. It has no address, no idea which element you meant, and nowhere for the answer to go.
Send a link instead of a picture
In Lasso, click the thing you want to talk about and write your note. The screenshot is taken for you at that moment. Then copy the comment's link, which we call a super link, and paste that into Slack, Notion, an email or a ticket.
There are two places to grab it.
- Right after you save. A quick comment with Alt+C ends with a small card that has a Copy link button. Note, copy, paste, done.
- Any time later. Hover the comment card in the side panel and click the link icon.
What the other person gets
This is the part a screenshot can't do. Here's what happens when a teammate clicks the link.
- The live page opens, the actual one, not a picture of it.
- The page scrolls down to your comment, and the element you clicked is outlined.
- The Lasso side panel opens on that collection (sometimes after one click on an Open Lasso button), so they see your note, the screenshot from when you wrote it and any replies.
- Every other pin from the collection is on the page too. One link and they have the full picture.
No extension? The link still works. They get the comment, its screenshot and the thread in the Lasso web app, and they can reply from there.
Why it beats a screenshot
- The page is attached. Nobody has to ask where it was, or go hunting through the nav.
- Before and after, side by side. The screenshot shows how it looked when you wrote the note. The page shows how it looks now. That's usually all you need to decide if it's fixed.
- The answer has a home. Replies go on the comment, not in a Slack thread that's gone by Friday. Resolve it when it's done and the pin turns green.
- It doesn't go stale. Move the comment into another collection and the link follows it. If a comment gets deleted, the link says it's no longer there, instead of showing something old.
Link a whole page
Sometimes it isn't one comment, it's "have a look at everything on pricing". The link icon in the side panel header copies a link to the page itself, as long as the page has comments in the collection you're viewing. It opens with all of that collection's pins in place, so a reviewer can work through them one by one.
Who can open it
Super links are for your team. They open for anyone who has access to the collection, and for nobody else, so you can paste them into a public channel without worrying about who else is in it. Anyone without access just sees a page saying the comment isn't available.
To let someone in, share the collection with them first. For a client or anyone outside your team, the PDF report from Export for AI has every screenshot and note in one file you can attach.
Next time you reach for Cmd Shift 4, click the thing with Lasso instead. You get the same screenshot, plus the page, the spot and a place for the reply.
Questions people ask
What is a super link?
Every Lasso comment has its own link. Opening it takes you to the live page, scrolled to that comment, with its screenshot, its thread and every other pin from the collection.
Can someone outside my team open a super link?
No. A super link opens for people who have access to the collection, so it works for your team, not for the public. For people outside, send the PDF report, which has every screenshot built in.
Does the link still work if the comment moves or gets resolved?
Yes. The link finds the comment wherever it lives when someone clicks it. Resolved comments open too, marked as resolved.
Do people need the Lasso extension to open it?
No. With the extension the live page opens with the side panel. Without it, they see the comment, its screenshot and the thread in the Lasso web app.
