How many collections can I make?

One on the free plan, plus the Welcome to Lasso sample, which doesn't count. Studio has unlimited collections.

Can one page have comments in more than one collection?

Yes. A page can hold several collections at once, so your private notes and your team's feedback on the same page stay apart.

Can I rename or delete a collection?

Yes, if you own it. Open the collection's Settings in the web app to rename it or delete it.

How to create a collection in Lasso

Collections keep a project's comments together. How to make one from the side panel or the web app, switch between them, and decide how to split your work.

A collection is just a folder for comments. Whatever's picked at the top of the side panel is where your next note lands, and every collection has its own list of people (or nobody, if it's private).

Making one

See the little + next to the collection name in the panel? Click it, type a name, hit Create. Done. The panel jumps to the new collection on its own, so you can start commenting right away.

There's also a New Collection button in the web app library if you'd rather start there. Same result.

Hopping between them

The collection name at the top of the panel is a dropdown. Pick another one and the pins on the page swap to match. Your other notes on that page don't go anywhere, they're just hidden while you look at something else.

Oh, and if you notice a purple outline around the picker, that's Lasso telling you this page has comments in a collection you aren't looking at right now. Hover it and it'll say so.

How should I split things up?

Honestly, however your brain works. That said, a few setups come up again and again.

By project is the most common. "Homepage refresh", "Pricing test", "Q1 launch". You share each one with whoever's on it, and when it ships you stop thinking about it.

By competitor works really well for research. Every rival gets a collection, and unlike a slide deck full of screenshots, the notes are still sitting on their real pages six months later.

Private plus shared is a nice combo too. Dump the half-baked thoughts in a private one, then move the good stuff over to the team collection once it's ready to see daylight.

And if you pick wrong? Comments can be moved or copied to another collection later in the web app. Nothing's permanent.
