Guides · Using Lasso

Keyboard shortcuts

Every Lasso shortcut in one place. Start a comment with Alt+C, save it with ⌘ Enter, open the side panel, pick a mention and flip through slides in a review.

Lasso is a free Chrome extension for commenting on any website, with the screenshot taken for you.Get Lasso, it’s free

Once you've left a few comments, the mouse starts to feel slow. These are all the shortcuts Lasso has. There aren't many, and you'll use two of them all day.

On a Mac, Alt is the Option key and ⌘ is Command. On Windows, use Ctrl wherever you see ⌘.

The two that matter

Shortcut What it does
Alt+C Start a comment. Press it again, or Esc, to stop
⌘ Enter Save the comment you're writing

Alt+C works whether the side panel is open or not. With the panel closed, you get the quick version. Click something, write, save, and a small card confirms where it went with a link you can copy. With the panel open it does the same as the Add comment button.

In the extension

Shortcut What it does
⌘ Shift L Open the Lasso side panel
Alt+C Start or cancel a comment
Esc Stop picking an element, or close the comment box
⌘ Enter or ⌘ S Save the comment
@ Mention someone in the collection
↑ ↓ then Enter or Tab Pick a name from the mention list
⌘ Enter while editing Save your edit
Esc while editing Cancel the edit

In a review

Shortcut What it does
→ Next comment
← Previous comment
Esc Close a zoomed screenshot, or leave present mode

Change the shortcuts

Chrome owns the two extension shortcuts, so you change them there. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts, find Lasso and click the pencil next to the one you want. If Alt+C clashes with another extension or your keyboard layout, this is where to fix it.

Questions people ask

What's the shortcut to leave a comment?

Alt+C on Windows and Option+C on a Mac. It works with the side panel open or closed.

Can I change the Lasso shortcuts?

Yes. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts in Chrome, find Lasso and set the keys you want for opening the side panel and starting a comment.

Why doesn't Alt+C do anything?

Another extension may already use it, or Chrome didn't assign it when Lasso was installed. Check chrome://extensions/shortcuts and set it there.
